College Life Made Easy With These Laundry Tips And Tricks

Tidy Laundry Tips And Tricks

Laundry was amma’s department and never your worry until you left home. Now you’re in college and have a new swanky room all for yourself. If you are completely clueless as to where to start with your laundry, this article will be of great help in keeping your clothes looking as good as new.

Have a laundry routine

Trust us when we say doing laundry is not an impossible feat. It can be easy on your list of things to do just with a little planning. Add washing clothes to your chores list and it can be done bi-weekly or even weekly, depending on what suits you. Break it into manageable chunks by keeping it for the non-busy hours of your schedule so it doesn’t feel burdensome. You can go about doing other things like studying and playing in between this.

Prep your clothes as soon as you take them off

Doing simple things beforehand makes washing laundry an easy task. Make sure to close hooks, zippers, turn your socks & pants inside out, empty your pockets, unroll cuffs, pants and tie extra bows and sashes right when you take them off. Make sure you put delicate clothing like lingerie and woollen in separate netted bags before washing. This makes it quicker and you don’t have to do the boring stuff just before laundry.

Address stains beforehand

Do the easy work now so you don’t have to work hard later. A laundry tip and trick if you have stained your clothes is to make sure you treat them immediately. For general stains like grease and ink, wet the stained area with water and scrub with detergent before soaking the cloth in hot water. Wash it later as per instructions.

Sort clothes by colour

You might have seen people do this at home. Separating clothes before washing increases their durability. Make sure to separate lights from darks and delicate clothing from the more long-lasting ones. See if the dark clothes bleed and if they do, wash them separately. Hot or warm water is best for white and light clothes. Investing in a good quality detergent also makes sure you don’t spend hours making your clothes shine.
